I would like to invite all of you to come down to Columbia on Sunday October 25th for our annual Alumni Game. We will be playing on Stankowski Field at 11 am. We will not be doing a BBQ this year so it will only be $50 for the game, which covers your dues as a member of the Missouri Lacrosse Alumni Association.

University of Missouri Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Opening

The University of Missouri Men's Lacrosse Club is now accepting applications for the position of head coach. The program is looking for a knowledgeable coach with strong communication skills to be responsible for planning and implementation of daily practices, conditioning, game preparation and management, and recruiting. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating the ability to manage a highly competitive and successful team. Multiple years of coaching experience and four years of college playing experience are preferred. This is a part-time paid position ($10,000) but requires serious commitment throughout the entire year.

All members of the team are fully committed to the success of the program and have an eagerness to become a consistent top-caliber team in the MCLA. We are looking for a talented coach that shares our drive and determination.

Kyle Hawkins is the New Warrior Chief

Former Mizzou Coach Resettles Across the Pond, Signs with HTHC Hamburg Lacrosse in Germany.

HTHC Hamburg Lacrosse, Home of the Warriors and the Braves, are very proud to announce that Mr. Kyle Hawkins has signed on as our Director of Men's Lacrosse and Head Coach, Men's 1st Team. With Kyle, we firmly believe we have found a dedicated and completely professional men's lacrosse coach to lead our program, from the youth to the adult level, and to help us reach the level of play that has eluded us thus far.

Hawkins was born in 1970 and brought up in the St. Louis, Missouri (USA) suburb of Kirkwood. He attended Arizona State University. After college, he spent time as a high school teacher at Hazelwood Central High School and began his lacrosse coaching career with their brand new lacrosse team. After helping Hazelwood to a 52 and 21 record over four years, he was then hired by the University of Missouri to coach their men's lacrosse team. He compiled a record of 127 wins and 58 losses in his nine years of coaching Mizzou in the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC), which spans 11 U.S. states. During his reign, Mizzou also chalked up a conference championship in 2004 that gave the team a berth to the league's national tournament, and in that same year he was selected as the coach of the year. Under his coaching, over 80 athletes were selected All-Conference and over 25 All-American.

Beyond his duties at Mizzou, Kyle has been described as "a huge advocate for the growth of the sport" talking to literally "everyone who would listen to him about lacrosse". He helped to start 13 High School teams in his area and over 20 University teams (both male and female), while also running Mizzou Summer Lacrosse camps which trained over a thousand young players over many years.

Hawkins was Commissioner of the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference from 2001to 2005, which has grown to become the largest in the USA both in terms of membership and geography. According to several prominent sources from the area, Kyle Hawkins "laid the foundation for the league’s structure and administration. While others participated, he was the architect and primary driving force."

Kyle also served on the Board of Directors, US Lacrosse Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates (2000-2005) and the US Lacrosse Budget Committee (2003-2004) which is a hand-picked group of 12 persons who are collectively responsible for setting the entire budget for US Lacrosse in all it does. HTHC Hamburg Lacrosse is excited to have such a strong lacrosse pioneer on board and fully expects Kyle to have a significant impact not only on our own program, but also hopes others in northern Germany and Europe will benefit as a result.

HTHC Hamburg currently has five teams competing in league play in Germany and our membership represents 1/10th of the complete German Lacrosse Association (DLaxV e.V.). The HTHC Hamburg Warriors women's 1st team are back-to-back German National Champions and our 1st men's team has placed second or third for the last four years. HTHC Hamburg Lacrosse also run a non-profit, professionally run lacrosse camp structure for players camps, and even ref training and coaches education. We recently worked with the International Committee for Lacrosse Development (http://www.icfld.com/) to put on two international coaches clinics here in Europe.

The second largest European lacrosse association, the DLaxV e.V. enjoys double-digit growth and runs six leagues with over 50 teams, plus a seventh brand new youth lacrosse league as well. On the international stage, we now field German National Teams in four ILF and IFWLA categories, both seniors and juniors.

Lacrosse in Germany is a growing pioneer sport, no if’s, and’s, or butt end’s about it. Now with Kyle Hawkins teamed with one of Germany's strongest clubs, HTHC Hamburg Lacrosse, we have an even brighter future on the horizon.

For any of you who have never been to an alumni game you should know that it is the highlight of the year and the premier event for the Alumni Association.

FIRST OFFICIAL VOTE IS "YES"

The paid alumni members had our first official vote on Friday August 3, 2007.

The vote was to decide whether or not the Alumni should help the team with their first official request. The request that the team made was to ask if the Alumni Association would volunteer to cover the cost of flying their top coaching candidate into Columbia for a face to face interview and tour of the campus and town.

The result of the vote was an overwhelming YES. The Alumni Association is proud to have the funds available to help the team, and want to continue in our membership, funding, and ultimately support for the current players.

There have been several generous donations from Alumni members that have allowed us to do this, along with the many members who have paid their dues. Remember, any donations will be tax deductible, and will go to a good cause.

"Now is the time to act. Dues are set for $25.00 annually. Pay your dues and you get to vote on what we do. No money is EVER spent with the exception of office supplies for whoever the poor shmuck is that does all the work. One membership is one vote. Simple majority is rule with a min. of 55% of the paid membership voting.

We are run as follows:

The President is a figure head and is the main go to guy for the public(public is as broad or small as is required). This person stays in contact with the team leadership, coaching staff, and faculty advisor. He would go to some of the team meetings to learn what is going on. The President would give the Alumni Association news and updates from the current team.

A VP that does less than the president. He would fill in for the president as needed.He will automatically be the president the year after serving as VP.

A Seceratary keeps role, watches the gmail account, sends updates from the president, and watches the money. The guy that has to do all the work. He would keep the members informed of the financial status of the team.

A Funraising Chair. All we need is somebody to bring ideas to the group and field incoming ideas from the alumni. Present it to the alumni for decisions.

Anyone can submit an idea or bill to be voted on. Items that will require voting are spending money, deciding on a fundraiser, electing officers, or changing the way the organization is run. All ideas will be presented on the 1st of each month and votes collected for 14 days.

That is it. Its simple.

The acting officers are President: Keith, VP: Schuh, Secretary: Milt, Fundraiser: No one so please volunteer. We will vote on all positions as soon as we reach 20 members.

After the elections we will start to work on upcoming activities, member benefits, fundraising, etc.

We need more pictures!!!

There are two reasons that I am looking for more pictures right now, and I need two types of pictures.

1. I need fun pictures showing play in games, comaraderie, smiles, etc. These are for dressing up the web site and making silly merchandise to selll.

2. I need more logos that we can put on clothes to sell. You can see some of the official Mizzou Lacrosse logos, but I need them to be tweaked so they say "Alumni" somewhere on them. They look very nice and I think we will sell a lot since it is a truly usable (non embarassing) article of clothing.
